Real Learning by Heidi Lance

Learning designed around your real work.

Real Learning is Heidi's bespoke practice for organisations that need leaders, teams or people across the wider business to work differently. Every engagement starts with your context, not an off-the-shelf programme.

When Real Learning is the right fit

The challenge is specific to your organisation.

A strategy or culture shift needs to show up in everyday behaviour.

Leaders know what is expected, but struggle to put it into practice.

Safety, quality or customer outcomes need more than another presentation.

Different teams need a shared way to make decisions and work together.

How Heidi works

From the real problem to everyday practice.

The process is tailored, but the discipline is consistent. Heidi stays close to the people doing the work and designs for use beyond the room.

Built for the people using it

Not a fixed programme with a new logo on it.

The result might include leadership workshops, facilitator-led conversations, scenario cards, practical toolkits, coaching or a wider learning journey. The format follows the need.

Heidi brings more than 20 years of learning and development experience, then works with your subject-matter experts so the content sounds and feels like your organisation.

Safety leadership

Fletcher Building

The challenge: Help leaders move safety from a compliance conversation into the choices and conversations made on the job.

Heidi's response: Work with the organisation's people and context to create practical learning that leaders can use with their teams.

The result: Four years on, Fletcher Building are seeing the results: serious injuries down 86%, overall injury rates dropped in half (that's nearly 150 people who go home to their families without harm every year).

Customer experience

Z Energy

The challenge: Turn customer principles into consistent everyday actions across varied roles and locations.

Heidi's response: Design practical, recognisable learning activities around the moments that matter in the customer experience.

The result: The Z Factor was hugely successful in changing attitudes towards both service and sales, and has contributed to the ongoing success of Z's customer excellence in the retail field.

A customer-focused learning activity in use
Across the business, not just in safety, our learning style has shifted completely so that every learning activity we do is in the same style that we learned from Real Learning – line led, filled with reflection, coaching moments, and action pit stops. I would absolutely encourage anyone who wants to shift their culture to have a chat with Heidi and the team – they are absolutely the best partners on any project.
